Successes and Challenges:
Vocal Chain sounds appropriately thick and polished. Previously thin and sonically flat. Enhanced with tube pre-amp, 1073 drive and tube saturation. Wanting to achieve depth without instruments washing out into the distance. Focus on reverb pre-delay, rather than tail, EQ presence psychoacoustics. Using fast 1176 FET to catch peaks into slower tube/opto compressor works well. Stacking subtle amounts within plugins as ingredients to add various flavours. Ampex ATR-102 serial on output collapsed imaging and dynamics too much. Pre-separation, significant amount of hi-hat on snare mic, later emphasised by compressor intended for snare only.
